The Oswego City School District Board of Education will have a very busy morning on July 1. Three board members will take their oath of office at the beginning of the annual reorganizational meeting at 10 a.m. The election of president and vice-president will follow.

Golfers participating in the 19th Annual United Way Golf Classic will have the chance to drive away a new 2014 Chevrolet Equinox courtesy of Burritt Motors.

Students are named to the Dean’s List for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.30 or higher.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, undergraduate students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 semester hours or more.

Granby Elementary School recently announced its top Accelerated Readers for the 2013-14 school year and rewarded Accelerated Reader participants in grades two through sixth who met their reading goals with an afternoon celebration that included cupcakes, refreshments and activities around the school.

Happy Day, a celebration born decades ago under the leadership of former Fairley Principal Dr. Joseph Occhino, offered an opportunity for the entire school community to get together and honor one another for a successful school year.

First time game-dayers, the kindergarteners, to the sixth grade seniors and a few teachers too joined in the several activities set up on the grassy field behind the school.
