Sponsored by Oswego County Doctors of Chiropractic Representing The New York State Chiropractic Association and coordinated by Dr. Richard Tesoriero of Tesoriero Chiropractic, the annual the event brought together chiropractors from throughout Oswego County as they showed their appreciation for their patients and offered chiropractic treatments at reduced rates for the event.
The year-end ceremony recognized nearly 80 students who completed one year of study in the OCB New Vision Allied Health, Law and Government, and Specialized Careers programs. Each offering provided high school seniors with a chance to explore different career fields, with classroom learning coupled with twice-weekly rotations at various sites across the county.
Students in teacher Joshua Osborne’s class at Granby Elementary recently studied a unit on animal responses. Students observed live lobsters and crayfish and made predictions on which was the fastest, based on their size and health.
Parents and family members along with BOCES and component school district officials gathered for the distinguished ceremony to celebrate students’ accomplishments and educational achievements as they prepare for careers in police science, security, surveillance, corrections, emergency medical response, firefighting and the military.
Project Explore students at Oswego County BOCES have been busy as bees completing a Project Based Learning initiative to benefit honey bees and local agriculture. The PBL project was coordinated cooperatively by teachers Dave Proietti and Kate Clark. “We asked the students to identify a need and create a project to address that need,” Proietti said.
The annual Oswego Middle School awards ceremony was conducted on June 6 in the gymnasium. Families and classmates joined in the celebration as numerous students were recognized by Principal Mary Beth Fierro.
Free art demonstrations will take place at Lakeside Artisans, 191 W. First St., from 5 to 7 p.m. every Thursday during the farmers’ market. Ron Nix will demonstrate the art of fly tying on June 19. Kathy Fenlon will demonstrate how she selects and combines fabrics for her bright and colorful handbags and purses on June 26.
