United Way of Greater Oswego County’s Stone Soup Too luncheon, buoyed by a $500 donation from the Fulton Lions Club, raised $951 and collected several bins of food to fill the shelves of local food pantries and help them to meet the increasing demand for food subsidy in Oswego County.
The Spring Rummage Sale at the Minetto United Methodist Church will be on May 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on May 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 3 will be $3 a bag day. There will also be a bake sale and luncheon on May 2
SUNY Oswego’s spring Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts exhibitions will open May 2 with a free public reception from 5 to 7 p.m. in Tyler Art Gallery. The reception in Tyler Hall for the students eligible for BFA degrees at Commencement will coincide with pre-exhibition festivities for students displaying works in the BA exhibition in the gallery.
Sarah R. Argersinger of West Monroe has been inducted into the Irving Bacheller Society, the St. Lawrence University English Department’s honorary society. Argersinger is a member of the Class of 2015 at St. Lawrence.
Sixth grade students at Granby Elementary School recently ended a unit on ancient Greece. As a final assessment for the unit, students were assigned a research project. These projects were then shared with the school during a Greek Festival, held in the school’s main lobby.

Now in its sixth year, the mural organizing committee is seeking interested youth artists who would like to create a piece of public art in the city of Oswego. The Youth Bureau will hold an informational meeting with young artists and their parents at 6 p.m. May 6 in the Common Council Chambers of Oswego City Hall.

Air Force Airman Eva M. Macaluso graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Macaluso is a 2009 graduate of Oswego High School.
Each year music teacher Garrett Heater writes a new musical especially for his students.
The premiere this year was “Backjack Dice and the Diamond Heist.” A Las Vegas comedian Blackjack Dice becomes an undercover spy to stem the theft of a valuable diamond by the villain Helmut Schweihund and his dastardly “Ze Piggies.”
