MaxMan Reptile Rescue visited fourth graders at Lanigan recently to present, promote and educate about reptiles. Presenter and founder of Maxman Reptile Rescue, Diana Sleiertin spoke to students about the lifecycles of reptiles, as well as common reptile adaptations.

Rob Rolfe, owner of Harmony Financial Services has announced that Hanh Huynh has joined the staff as an intern. A senior at SUNY Oswego majoring in Business Administration, Hanh discovered Harmony Financial Services while visiting the SUNY Oswego website, www.oswego.edu/laker_leads for internship opportunities.

“Rigoletto – The Oswego Story,” as created by Mack Richardson, is updated from the original setting in 16th century Mantua, Italy, to Oswego in the 1920s Prohibition Era. The action takes place in various locales downtown and at the Inn on the Lake.

Joanna LeFevre, a junior Marketing Management major at Grove City College, has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2013 semester. Joanna is a 2011 graduate of Oswego High School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph LeFevre (Linda) from Oswego.

At the regularly scheduled monthly meeting on February 17, the City of Fulton Republican Committee unanimously voted to endorse Republican Congressional candidate John Katco. Katco is running for the 24th Congressional District seat currently held by Democrat incumbant Dan Maffei.

The SUNY Oswego Metro Center will offer programs on two Thursdays in March designed to help participants learn how to better use communication skills to be more successful and effective in personal and work relationships.

The weather may be keeping some people indoors. But, at St. Francis Commons the weather hasn’t stopped residents there from getting plenty of exercise. Thanks to a partnership with SUNY Oswego, Amanda Shultz, a senior majoring in Wellness Management is completing an internship at the assisted living residence which focuses on keeping seniors active and healthy.

The Oswego Lions Club will hold its 16th annual Wine and Beer tasting with silent auction March 21 at the American Foundry in Oswego. The event is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with pre-sale tickets $15 and $20 at the door the night of the event. Pre-sale tickets are available at Cakes Galore or from any Lions Club member.

The Oswego County Legislature’s Public Safety Committee presented Sgt. Allen Goodsell with a certificate of appreciation for his 35 years of service. Sgt. Goodsell is a patrol officer with the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office.
