An initial informative program regarding DeMolay is set for February 9 at 2 p.m. It will be held at Hiram Lodge 646 Maple Avenue, Fulton. Guest speaker William Sardone, Executive Officer for New York State DeMolay will attend, along with other officials.
Martin Scorsese will receive the Cinematic Imagery Award at the 18th annual Art Directors Guild’s Excellence in Production Design Awards on Feb. 8. The ceremony, set to take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, will be hosted by standup comedian, from Oswego, Owen Benjamin.
The Lewis County Maple Producers Association is looking for anyone ages 4-19 residing in Jefferson, Lewis, or Oswego counties interested in becoming part of the 2014 Maple Royalty. The pageant is being held on March 7 at the American Maple Museum in Croghan, New York.

Fred Betts, curator of the Salmon River International Sport Fishing Museum, will give a special presentation on the history of fishing creels Feb. 16. He will display his personal collection of creels during the program. Visitors are invited to bring their own creels for show and tell, and to share information.
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, has opened a tax aide site at Central Square Library. It will replace the former site, hosted by St. Bernadette’s in Constantia. The new site will be staffed by RSVP volunteers John Lyons and Marie Crouse.
The Fitzhugh Park Elementary School Student Council held a Super Bowl Friday to assist the Oswego County Humane Society. Students, teachers and staff wore the colors of their favorite National Football League team. More than $100 and a substantial amount of food were donated to the local organization.
The Oswego Public Library’s Library Learning Center will offer a Tax Prep Resources workshop on February 28. This class is free and runs from 1 to 3 p.m. Topics covered by the instructor include: online resources, navigating the Internal Revenue Service webpage and tax tips.
Bridget Swartz, library director of the Parish Public Library announces the library will feature the photography of Krista Alsworth. Krista is a self-taught photographer and specializes in outdoor-wildlife photography. The dates for this show are February/March.
