The St. Paul’s Girls Travel Basketball program has announced it’s open tryout schedule for the upcoming season. The program is again assembling one 5th and 6th grade team and two 7th and 8th grade teams. Each team generally consists of 9-12 players. The teams practice 2-3 nights per week and play in 12-15 tournaments October through March.
On September 30 there will be a Shine at Youth Block Party from 8 -10:30 p.m. at Sunshine Community & Child Care Center, 113 Schuyler St., Suite 9 in Fulton.
The Literacy Coalition of Oswego County (LCOC), is hosting a free literacy event, “Dig Into Reading,” Noon to 3:00 p.m. , Sept. 21, at Mexico Elementary School, 26 Academy St., it was announced by Jeanne Cieszeski, event planning team chairperson.

Golfers in the Tuesday night Ladies’ League recently held a Rally for the Cure Golf Tournament in support of OCO’s Cancer Services Program Partnership. Over the years the Cancer Services Program has provided hundreds of mammograms, breast exams, and breast ultrasounds for uninsured and under-insured women in Oswego County.
For those interested in expanding or starting a small business in Oswego County, there are two small business training classes scheduled for September. The first class will be held online from September 9 through October 26. Registration for this online class is due by September 5.
In anticipation of the opening of two new science facilities at SUNY Oswego this fall, the college will showcase the sciences in its New York State Fair exhibit Aug. 27, in the State University’s tent. The human-computer interaction program’s robots will have a repeat engagement from 5 to 9 p.m.
