Adirondack Treasure: The Bonaparte Legacy coming to Oswego Library

Matthew Glavin will bring his lively storytelling and blend of fact and fiction to the Oswego Public Library and help us kick off the 26th Harborfest on July 24 at 6:30 p.m. The Friends of the Library will provide light refreshments and Matthew will be selling and signing his book, Adirondack Treasure: The Bonaparte Legacy, in the Erik and Emily Cole Community Room after his talk.

Reminder: IRS to be Closed July 5 Due to Budget and Sequester; Filing and Payment Deadlines Unchanged

As was the case on May 24 and June 14, the first two furlough days, all IRS operations will again be closed on July 5. This means that all IRS offices, including all toll-free hotlines, the Taxpayer Advocate Service and the agency’s nearly 400 taxpayer assistance centers nationwide, will be closed.

Local Author’s New Book Details Legends and Lore of Lake Ontario

Susan Peterson Gateley’s newest book “Legends and Lore of Lake Ontario” was just released last week by the History Press. The author will be on hand to sign copies at the Fair Haven Craft Show on July 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. Many mysteries including sunken ships, unknown beasts, strange forces and sudden disappearances lie beneath the lake’s sunlit surface. Odd sightings and peculiar events have long inspired stories.
