The Friends of Mexico Point Park are once again inviting the public to come out and kick their heels up and enjoy the festivities at this year’s Redneck Cookout. New additions have been added to this year’s line-up as well as welcoming back old friends. The park proudly welcomes home Omen Sade and is honored to be adding him to this year’s program.
On July 8, many local businesses will be offering $1 donation cards, in the shape of Lake Neatahwanta, in order to raise local funds for the cleanup to begin. Second Ward Councilman Dan Knopp presented his idea to the Fulton Community Revitalization Project Board –a 501 (c) 3 organization. The Lake Neatahwanta Revitalization Project will be partially funded by a very generous grant from Senator Patty Ritchie and other private donors.
The 4th of July is coming and all the festivities are a lot of fun for humans – but not so much for our pets. In fact, quite the opposite. Fireworks are a strange, unexplainable and sometimes terrifying noise, and as many pet owners know, they can cause a great deal of stress for some animals.
A sizzling summer of arty fun is waiting for children at CNY Arts Center’s second annual Arty Day Camp. Set to run July 15-19 and August 19-23 at the center, 357 State St., the camp will offer students a choice of art, writing, dance and theatre classes along with lunch and afternoon group art projects from 9 a.m to 2 p.m.

Participants in Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Relatives Raising Relatives program recently enjoyed a family fun day at Scriba Town Park. Staff accompanied more than 50 participants for a picnic and a day of swimming and fun in the sun.
The Preschoolers at Discovery Day Care in Phoenix took a field trip to Riverside Ranch to see the Clydesdales and meet Kathy Waddle, owner of Riverside Ranch. The students were able to touch and pet the animals and the horses even showed us how they play soccer.
Cast from the Fulton Community Theatre presented Helen Hoefer, director of Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s emergency services with a donation for the agency’s food pantry.
The Oswego County Fair Housing Council recently announced the winners of its 2013 coloring contest. Community Bank, Fulton Savings Bank, Pathfinder Bank and Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego each donated gift certificates as prizes.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 1 in 4 women will experience abuse in their lifetime and nearly 1 in 5 women have been raped at some point in their life. In an effort to raise awareness and promote the efforts of men ending violence against women, Services to Aid Families, a program of Oswego County Opportunities, is launching its White Ribbon Campaign.
