The New York Sea Grant Launch Steward Program has expanded to include Sodus Bay, the largest sheltered bay on Lake Ontario. A popular recreational and tourism area, Sodus Bay is an excellent place for the New York Sea Grant Launch Steward Program to be educating the public about the importance of preventing and slowing the spread of harmful aquatic hitchhikers.
Oswego High School junior Nina Alcasid will present a solo piano recital at 3 p.m. on June 23 at The Church of the Resurrection, 120 W. Fifth St., Oswego. The program is free and open to the public. And, those who would like to, may donate to the Oswego Hospital Auxiliary.
The Frederick Leighton Elementary School Home and School Association hosted the 13th annual “All-You-Can-Eat” pancake breakfast to raise funds for the school’s annual Circus Program for the 2013-14 school year. It took place from 8:30 a.m. to noon on June 9 at the Oswego Elks Lodge, 132 W. Fifth St.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified home health care, long-term home health care, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
On June 12, members of Easter Star and Masons made plans for the chamber of commerce Independence Day Parade. The members of Lake City 127 planned a full day of events on July 7. The day will begin with a Masons go to church Sunday at West Baptist Church.
Fulton Rotary Club program chair Lori Greeney introduced Jeff Coakley, vice president for strategic services for Oswego Health, at a recent meeting. Jeff’s presentation included an explanation of what Oswego Health’s new strategic plan consists of, as well as, a review of its mission and vision statements.

Oswego County Traffic Safety Board, Child Passenger Safety Committee, and the Tobacco Free Network of Oswego County recognized their efforts with prize bags filled with bike helmets, Friendly’s gift certificates and other treats. The students are all from Ms. Christine Castillio’s fourth grade at Kingsford Park Elementary in Oswego.
During ceremonies on the Auburn and Fulton campuses last week, Cayuga Community College recognized 37 students for their completion of health care career certificate programs.
Universal Metal Works, Rombough Electric and the Tri-Oswego Triathlon teamed up in 2012 to manufacture new bike racks for use with the event, according to Shane Broadwell, Tri-Oswego Race Director.
