Applications are now being accepted for the Muriel Allerton Scholarship Award given each year by the Professional Journalists and Communicators of Oswego County. Graduating high school seniors throughout the county who are planning to continue their education in a communications-related field are invited to apply for the $1,000 prize.

Jonathan Mahon of Oswego was recently inducted into the Lambda Xi Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at Morrisville State College. Each spring, Morrisville State College chooses its finest students to become a part of this prestigious international organization.

Twelve SUNY Oswego students received Empire State Diversity Honors Scholarships this year. The State University of New York scholarship is direct aid to attract and retain undergraduate students from a broad range of backgrounds who have demonstrated high academic achievement and contribute to the diversity of the student body.
John Canale, author of “A Life’s Journey, Battle of the Bulge and Youth” along with the newer “A Handbook on Participation in Government in Oswego Politics,” will appear at the Oswego Public Library the evening of May 29.
