The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 24 Oswego, is offering two Boating Safely classes. May 4 at the Fulton Municipal Building, 141 S. First St., Fulton from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. May 18 at the Sandy Pond Sportsman Association, 3201 County Route 15, Sandy Creek from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Outstanding students from each class, kindergarten through grade six, were selected to receive the Third Quarter Fairgrieve Elementary School Principal’s Award. Presented by school Principal Jean Ciesla, the award recognizes students for regularly upholding the school’s following four behavioral expectations.
The Oswego County Choral Festival was recently held at the Oswego High School. Top singers from the nine junior high schools in Oswego County combined to perform in concert with a guest conductor.
Tony Cortese of Fulton graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering technology from RIT’s College of Applied Science and Technology in the winter 2012-13 quarter.
The evening will feature a talented roster of student and staff musicians, dancers, singers and performers. The show is sponsored by the Sandy Creek Dollars for Scholars chapter. The cost of admission is $5 per person. The audience will be asked to cast his/her ballot for the evening’s top student-performance

The Fulton YMCA Speed Demons swim team celebrated a successful season at its 33rd annual awards banquet held recently in Fulton. The 90 members of the team and their families enjoyed a Hollywood awards-themed meal, accepted awards and honored its departing seniors, Janelle Tallents and Courtney Beckwith.
The Oswego County Historical Society will host its annual meeting presentation on May 6 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Oswego Public Library at 120 E. Second St. The membership and anyone interested in supporting the historical society initiatives are encouraged to attend.Following the brief business meeting, there will be an encore presentation of the program “Theodore Irwin: Oswego Tycoon & American Collector.”
The Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation announced that eight ports, including Oswego, are receiving the prestigious Robert J. Lewis Pacesetter Award for registering increases in international cargo tonnage shipped through their ports during the 2012 navigation season compared to the previous year.
