Child passenger safety was the topic covered at the latest child care provider training at the Child Care and Development Council, 317 W. First St. Training was provided by Billie Crandall Brady, Oswego County Traffic Safety Board coordinator.
Trinity Catholic School presents Tom Anzalone for an Adult Comedy Night at The American Foundry on April 26. This is the first of what may become an annual event. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., hors d’oeuvres will be served at 7 p.m., and the comedy show starts at 8 p.m.
Oswego Community Christian School students are doing their part to support the school’s sixth annual auction. Students in each grade have been busy preparing themed baskets that will be up for bid during the auction. Each basket will be filled with an array of goodies that pertain to a unique theme.
The Oswego Lions Club with host the second annual Rivers Edge “handmade” Craft Show on June 9. This year, the event will take place in a more spacious location right on the river’s edge, West Liner Park, in Oswego. Hours for the craft show will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Oswego’s Annual Independence Celebration will be marking 50 years of family, fun and fireworks this summer. To celebrate this golden anniversary in style, the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s Parade Committee is working on some special attractions for the parade on July 7.
The Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner on April 28. Serving will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will be turkey tetrazzini, vegetable, rolls, and dessert.
State Senator Patty Ritchie honored 17 Central and Northern New York women at her 48th Senate District “Women of Distinction” ceremony, held in Watertown on Thursday. Those recognized were nominated by friends, family and community leaders in Oswego, St. Lawrence and Jefferson counties.
On May 18, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Faith United Church, located next to the middle school at 12 Mark Fitzgibbons Drive, will host its annual plant and yard sale. Indoor and outdoor plants will be sold on the church lawn.
Congratulations to Lakeside Artisans’ member Tim Ames on the unveiling of his painting of the USS Oneida, a Brig of War which was built in Oswego and served in the War of 1812.
The painting, commissioned by the Friends of Fort Ontario, was unveiled on April 5 at the reception for the War of 1812 Symposium.
Dr. K. Brad Wray, professor of philosophy and author of an authoritative book on philosopher Thomas Kuhn, is this year’s recipient of the SUNY Oswego President’s Award for Scholarly and Creative Activity.
