“A Titanic Affair” will be the Marine Museum’s signature event for 2012 as part of a year-long commemoration of the sinking of Titanic. It is being held at the American Foundry. The venue will allow for ballroom dancing, a silent auction, the re-creation of the eight-course dinner served to first class passengers on the ship, displays and more.

Corning Glass Technologies Chief Technology Officer Peter Bocko, a SUNY Oswego alumnus, will speak on campus as part of the Augustine Silveira Jr. Distinguished Lecture Series on April 25.

The Fulton Family YMCA Preschool will be holding its spring open house on April 27 from 6 – 8 p.m. for the 2012-13 school years. The Fulton Family YMCA’s Pre-school offers programs for children ages 2 to 5.

Melanie Trexler, executive director of United Way of Greater Oswego County, has announced that Kayla Lynskey has joined the staff as an intern. A senior at SUNY Oswego, Lynskey is working with the agency’s staff in the area of social media.

This year, after learning about the high levels of poverty, unemployment, and homelessness in Oswego County, the 2012 Leadership class is coordinating a collection drive for personal hygiene items.

Joseph Coughlin, a 1982 graduate of SUNY Oswego who is internationally known for his work in gerontology and public policy, will receive an honorary doctor of science degree from the State University of New York on May 12 at Oswego’s 151st Commencement.

For the past 26 years, Susan Nalle, NP has provided medical for care patients of Oswego County Opportunities Health Services. On March 30 her extensive career as a health professional came to a close when she retired from OCO.

The Children’s Board of Oswego’s hanging basket fundraiser is under way. Choose from seven beautiful varieties of hanging baskets: Superbells, Impatiens, Boston Fern,  Supertunias, Ivy Geraniums, Fuchsia and Zebra Plant. Orders are due by April 30 and all orders arrive May 11; just in time for Mothers Day.
