Head Start was created in 1965 by President Lyndon Johnson as an eight week summer program for young children of low-income families. Over the years it has undergone many changes. It is now a year-long preschool program that provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to children and their families.
Each year, the Children’s Board provides clothing, school supplies, holiday gifts, or other items to children of families who have been identified as in-need. The group partners with school district nurses and Catholic Charities to determine families who will receive support.
At a recent Fulton Rotary Club meeting, Joe Allerton, left, introduced Dan O’Brien Fulton’s DPW Commissioner. Commissioner O’Brien explained to the Rotarians the inter workings of the Public Works Department.
