Hearing Set On Fulton Budget, Resolution For Common Council Raise

The city of Fulton’s 2018 budget will be up for discussion at a public hearing set for Tuesday, December 12. The $16,492,000 budget will be available on the city website or at the Clerk/Chamberlain’s office a week prior to the public hearing. Members of the public can review the budget and weigh in at the public hearing on December 12, opening after the public comment portion of the regular common council meeting to begin at 7 p.m. at the Fulton Municipal Building, 141 S. First St.

Voters Approve Hannibal Central School District Capital Project

Renovations and improvements are in store for the Hannibal Central School District after voters approved a $42 million capital project Wednesday (Nov. 29). In a 157-50 vote, residents elected to move forward with the project, which encompass upgrades to portions of all district buildings. The renovations will come at no cost to district taxpayers, as the project is fully funded through a combination of state aid and the district’s existing capital reserve fund.

Fulton Man Charged With Sexual Abuse

A Fulton man is facing sexual abuse and other charges, police reported today (Nov. 28). Anthony M. Gerard, 37, was arrested after an investigation by the City of Fulton Police Department and charged with the following crimes:
• First-degree sexual abuse (nine counts), Class D Felony
• Endangering the welfare of a child (three counts), Class A Misdemeanor
• Forcible Touching (nine counts), Class A Misdemeanor

County Legislator Karasek Organizes 3rd Annual Can Drive

Oswego County legislator representing the 22nd District, James Karasek organized a non-perishable food drive to benefit local agencies in dispersing food for those in need around the holidays. The Fulton TOPS store, 909 W. First St., is now home to a donation bin for customers to place purchased canned goods and non-perishable food items through the end of December. All collected food will be evenly distributed among Catholic Charities of Oswego County and Oswego County Opportunities’ Nutrition Services to be given to local families in need.

First United Church of Fulton Offers Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Financial donations and volunteer help are needed for this year’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner to be held on Thursday, November 23 from noon until 2:00 p.m. at First United Church of Fulton at 33 South Third Street in Fulton. The free sit down dinner is open to everyone, and features a complete Thanksgiving Dinner and an opportunity for good food and fellowship.

Fulton Family Grows By Five After National Adoption Day

Overseen by judges of the Fifth Judicial District of the New York State Unified Court System and Onondaga County Executive Joannie Mahoney, dozens of local families took their turn to welcome new additions with official adoption finalization proceedings at Syracuse’s 17th Annual National Adoption Day. For one Fulton family, this meant celebrating five children officially welcomed to the Hotchkiss family. Esperanza Hotchkiss, 28, had been fostering two sets of siblings ranging in age from three to 12 and on Friday (Nov 17) she officially took them in as her own.
