Eagle Scout Builds Bridge At Great Bear

At the request of Friends of Great Bear, Andrew York, a Boy Scout from Troop 119, Baldwinsville, as his Eagle Scout Project, designed a foot bridge across the Great Bear Springs Stream at Great Bear Springs Recreational Area. Andrew secured donations for materials and organized the work party, made up from scout volunteers, family and Friends of Great Bear.

Fulton Will Consider Alternatives for Garbage After County Fee Increase

Tipping fees at the Oswego County transfer stations and landfill have seen another increase after the County Legislature addressed the fees at last month’s meeting (July 14.) Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. said the city of Fulton will consider leaving the garbage business due to the $10 increase approved to begin January 1, 2017.

On August 8, State Police in Hastings arrested Richard S. Buffham, 48, of West Monroe, for (1) count of “Course of Sexual Conduct against a Child 1st degree,” a class “B” felony. Buffham was charged following a joint investigation with the Department of Homeland Security Investigations.

Fulton Man Charged With Grand Larceny of Motor Vehicle and DWI-Drugs

On July 28, an officer of the Fulton Police observed a stolen blue 2005 Dodge Durango in the 400 block of Hannibal Street, which was reported stolen. The officer attempted to conduct a vehicle and traffic stop, however the operator of the stolen vehicle refused to stop for the officer, according to the police report.

The long term grocer in Hannibal, Jim Mirabito of the Village Market IGA has recently confirmed the sale of the store to Tops Friendly Markets. After 50 years of service as Hannibal’s only withstanding full-scale grocery store, the Village Market located at 409 Fulton Street will close officially at 3 p.m. on August 7. A recent press release from Tops officials have confirmed that the store will re-open as a chain of Tops Friendly Markets on August 11.
