The Fulton City School District Board of Education unanimously accepted the resignation of four district employees including the principal of Fulton Junior High School, Ryan Lanigan. Lanigan’s resignation will become effective October 7, 2016 and school officials are in the beginning stages of the process to finding a replacement.
The official grand opening of Tops Friendly Market in Hannibal brought local organizations $3,000 worth of Tops gift cards. Community, the recurring theme of the opening, was strongly emphasized as Tops officials, village representatives, customers, Tops associates and the Hannibal Tops store manager Sean Grant officially opened the 172nd chain store of Tops Market.
School district and city officials came together to proclaim the month of September 2016 as School Attendance Awareness Month in the city of Fulton.
On September 28 at 7 p.m., the Friends of History in Fulton, Inc. located at the John Wells Pratt House Museum, 177 S. First St., will host its annual meeting. Each year this meeting is held in September, the main focus being the election of new board members for the upcoming year(s). The meeting itself will take no time at all.
On Monday, Sept. 12, the next phase of road rehabilitation will begin on the Route 3 (East Broadway) construction project. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes whenever possible.
The Fulton Fire Department will purchase a new, well-equipped, firetruck to replace a 26-year-old truck, that has been out of service since January of this year, as well as no longer compliant with National Fire Protection Association standards.
As students and families have prepared for the start of the 2016-2017 school year, they join school staff, administration, the board of education, and Brian Pulvino, who has been diligently preparing to begin his first school year in the role of Superintendent of Schools for the Fulton City School District.
Oswego Industries is a private nonprofit that has served the developmentally and intellectually disabled population of Oswego County since its official beginning in 1968. Partnered with sister agency, ARC of Oswego County, together the two have established “a story of struggle, constant change, growth and courage in response to needs,” according to a historical overview of the agencies written by the late Elizabeth “Betty” Vaught Baasch, the founding executive director.
Five individuals unlawfully broke into a North Sixth Street residence and while inside a physical altercation ensued and property was damaged, according to the report. One suspect remains at large.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 31), the intersection of South Second Street (State Route 481) and East Broadway (State Route 3) in the city of Fulton will be reduced to one lane in each direction for road construction.
