The Fulton city common council approved the final 2016 budget after a public hearing held Tuesday. Starting the budget process with a 10% tax increase in the first draft; the mayor, councilmen and city clerk/chamberlain worked through the weeks to go over the budget meticulously and make any cuts to lower the tax increase as much as possible. In its final and approved stage, the $15.9 million budget brings forth an overall increase of $261,091 from the 2015 budget and a 4.3% tax increase.
During the early morning hours today (Dec. 1), the city of Fulton Police Department, along with members of the New York State Police and the Oswego County Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant at 7 N. Seventh St. in the city of Fulton.
Inside the two-family residence, police reportedly discovered a large quantity of materials associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine.
At the FCSD board meeting held in late October, the Board of Education officially addressed and unanimously passed the resignation of current Superintendent of Schools, William Lynch for the purpose of retirement. After serving 11 years as superintendent for Fulton school district, Lynch will be replaced starting July 1, 2016.
Over the past few months dozens of local residents have upgraded their skills and found jobs using the resources available through the One Stop Center at the Oswego County Branch Office Building, 200 N. Second St., Fulton. The Oswego County Workforce New York One Stop Center provides a full range of services for unemployed and underemployed job seekers.
Reality Check members in Oswego County celebrated the “Great American Smoke Out “ by chalking the walkway of G. Ray Bodley High School’s main entrance. Students used chalk to outline life size paper cut out of the human body. Within each figure, students were encouraged to write about their experience with smoking, inspirational messages or any of the numerous tobacco facts provided by Reality Check.

Friends, family and loved ones of 23-year-old Sean Leonard encourage the community to join them at Lakeview Lanes of Fulton for a fundraiser benefit in memory of his life this Saturday. Leonard unexpectedly lost his life due to a stabbing incident in Hannibal on October 24. This Saturday, just over a month since his passing, Lakeview Lanes will host a fundraiser benefit from noon to 9 p.m. in remembrance of Leonard.
