Winter Wanes; Potholes Plague

Potholes along Route 57 marked with a snow shovel, safety cones and a warning sign. The worst of winter waned with the recent thaw but as streets clear of built up ice and snow they reveal a pox of potholes plaguing the city: damage wrought by winter’s icy grip. “If you fill a hole, it’ll probably be good for a day if you’re lucky,” Mayor Ron Woodward said. “Then you’ve got to fill it again. New potholes keep surfacing and they’re going to keep showing up until the frost line goes away.”

Declaration of Snow Emergency / Travel Advisory

snowplowBREAKING NEWS:  The City of Fulton has declared a SNOW EMERGENCY effective at 3 p.m. (March 12, 2014). Snow and gusting winds along with a forecast of significant snowfall this evening have created very hazardous driving conditions. Motorists are advised against any unnecessary travel. Vehicles will be towed if they become stuck or if they present a hazard.

Awaiting Annexation Appeal on Fulton Wastewater Treatment Plant

The final decision whether the Fulton Wastewater Fulton WWTPTreatment Plant will become part of the city or continue to be in the town of Granby and taxed accordingly is expected to be handed down any day by the New York State Court of Appeals. “A three judge panel, the final step – they will decide if annexation is in the best interest of the general public,” Mayor Ron Woodward said during a phone interview last week.
