County May Receive $1.75 Million Medicare Help; Schools Will Get Aid, Too

Oswego County and the counties of New York State got some help Wednesday paying for rising Medicaid costs. The U.S. Senate approved a $26 billion plan, most of which will pour money into a Medicare fund.  The county and all of its school districts will get money from this bill, though it’s not certain what schools will be able to do with the money.

Fulton Cooperates With State Pension Investigation

The city of Fulton has given the state Attorney General’s office the records requested as part of the office’s investigation into alleged pension padding.

“We’ve got everything we could get for him and we sent it to him,” said Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward, referring to Attorney General Andrew Cuomo this week.  “We haven’t heard any more.”

Merging Churches May Buy Former Holy Family Church

The former Holy Family Church in Fulton.The leaders of a soon-to-merge church say they’re waiting on final approval to buy the former Holy Family Church in Fulton.

Pastors Abel Searor, of Beyond Borders Church of God of Fulton and Lawrence Falco of Full Gospel Church of God of Baldwinsville say their offer has been presented by the Catholic Diocese of Syracuse to the Vatican for approval.

Notable Obituary: Former Fultonian Mark Tracz; Tried to Bring Pro Baseball to DC Area

Mark W. TraczThe Washington Post recently published an appreciation of the life of Mark W. Tracz, the Fulton native who owned a minor league baseball team and worked hard to try to bring Major League Baseball back to the Washington, D.C. area.

Tracz died July 3 of tonsil cancer, the paper reported.

Legislature Returns to Finish Budget, Maybe. Aubertine: ‘A Good Budget Late Beats A Bad Budget On Time’

The New York State Legislature.One of the latest state budgets in New York history is likely to win final approval this week, according to State Senator Darrel Aubertine.

“It’s been frustrating for everyone, but I do think in the end we end up with a budget that’s much better than the budget that was originally proposed,” Aubertine (D-Cape Vincent) said Monday, before heading to Albany for Tuesday’s special session.
