Oswego County and the counties of New York State got some help Wednesday paying for rising Medicaid costs. The U.S. Senate approved a $26 billion plan, most of which will pour money into a Medicare fund. The county and all of its school districts will get money from this bill, though it’s not certain what schools will be able to do with the money.
Weather permitting, the Oswego County Health Department will conduct an aerial spray of the Toad Harbor Swamp on the north shore of Oneida Lake this evening. The aerial spray will begin after 6 p.m. and continue until the area has been treated.
The city of Fulton has given the state Attorney General’s office the records requested as part of the office’s investigation into alleged pension padding.
“We’ve got everything we could get for him and we sent it to him,” said Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward, referring to Attorney General Andrew Cuomo this week. “We haven’t heard any more.”
The leaders of a soon-to-merge church say they’re waiting on final approval to buy the former Holy Family Church in Fulton.
Pastors Abel Searor, of Beyond Borders Church of God of Fulton and Lawrence Falco of Full Gospel Church of God of Baldwinsville say their offer has been presented by the Catholic Diocese of Syracuse to the Vatican for approval.
Depending upon weather conditions, spraying could take place on Thursday, August 5. The application would take place between 6 and 9 p.m. In the event of bad weather, rain dates will be on Friday, August 6 or Saturday, August 7. The actual date will be announced to the public through the news media.
One of the latest state budgets in New York history is likely to win final approval this week, according to State Senator Darrel Aubertine.
“It’s been frustrating for everyone, but I do think in the end we end up with a budget that’s much better than the budget that was originally proposed,” Aubertine (D-Cape Vincent) said Monday, before heading to Albany for Tuesday’s special session.
Two Schroeppel teens are on the fast track to court after leading police on a car chase. Police say the chase involved many of the roads in the area, including a snowmobile trail. The teens jumped from the moving car, police allege, but didn’t get far.
