Former Fultonian Pulled From Crowd To Caddy For Top Pro Golfer

Dr. Tom BuchholzA former Fulton athlete got the sporting thrill of a lifetime recently when he was pulled out of the crowd to carry the clubs of a pro golfer.

And not just any golfer.

Tom Buchholz caddied three holes at the Shell Houston Open for Phil Mickelson, who won golf’s most important event, the Masters, right after that.

It was not a random event.

Hannibal Board Restores Phys Ed Position, Approves Budget For Public Vote

The Hannibal school board Wednesday night unanimously approved a budget for the next school year. It calls for $25,452,989 in spending, and requires 2.99% tax levy to plug an approx. $1.7m deficit. It resembles the same budget the board rejected last week, with one slight tweak. Instead of eliminating 10 entire teaching positions, this revised version restores a part-time physical education teacher.

Contingency Budget for Fulton Schools Would Be Lower, Would Lower The Boom on Community Groups

On any average night, Fulton school buildings are alive with activity. A youth sports league team may be practicing on school district fields. A Neighborhood Watch group or Girl Scout troop may be meeting in a classroom. A volleyball league may be playing in an elementary school gym.

None of these groups is a part of the Fulton City School District, yet each one has a stake in the outcome of next month’s budget vote.

Unemployment Rate Drops A Bit in Oswego County

Unemployment pulled back in March in Oswego County from near-historic highs, but not because more people found jobs.

Data from the state Labor Department shows the unemployment rate in Oswego County in March was 10.8%.  That’s down from 11.5% in February but is a few tenths of a point higher than the jobless rate of a year ago.

New York Chocolate Files For Bankruptcy, Winding Down Business

“We are not accepting the Chapter 11 activity as there’s no absolutely no hope, that the plant’s going to be liquidated, sold, and the plant’s going to be scrapped,” the head of Operation Oswego County, Mike Treadwell said.

Democrat-Turned-Republican Candidate for Governor Steve Levy Visits Fulton

Steve Levy, Republican candidate for Governor.Suffolk County Executive and candidate for governor Steve Levy likes to compare his switch from Democratic party to Republican to Ronald Reagan’s conversion.

“Remember that Ronald Reagan switched from a Democrat to a Republican when he was 51 years of age. I beat him by a year. I’m 50,” said Levy.

He trying to use that frame to win over Republicans all over the state, like the Oswego County Committee Members.
