Fulton Sells Another Tax-Foreclosed Home at a Small Profit

A third city-owned house has been sold, for more than it was worth.

The city seized 862 West First St. in April, 2009 for unpaid property taxes. It’s a one-family home, 1,300 square feet, with three bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms.

The home is assessed at $62,000. It was listed for sale at $74,900. It sold for $79,000.

Syracuse Man Arrested in Fulton for DWI Under Leandra’s Law

Fulton Police announced Monday the arrest and ticketing of a man under Leandra’s Law, which makes it a felony to drive drunk when a child is in the car.

Police allege they stopped Jeffrey J. Bryant’s car for going 41 miles an hour in a 30 mile an hour zone on the Broadway bridge.  In the car with him were an adult woman and a three month old child.

Do This Saturday: Kick Off Hannibal’s Anniversary

The Hannibal Beautification Committee has been busy designing new  banners in celebration of the village's sesquicentennial anniversary.   The banner depicts the downtown area around 1860 when people came into  town with their horse and buggies. The 10 new banners will be hung this  weekend to help kick-off the official celebration.  Pictured from left  inside the gazebo are Rosey Emmons, Ann Mahaney, Diane Miller, and Karen  White.  In front are Virginia Wilbur, Dawn Greenleaf, and Sandy  Blanchard.  Missing from photo are Sharon Moody and Lynn Waloven.

Hannibal turns 150 on Saturday and will throw a party to celebrate.

The village begins its sesquicentennial celebration Saturday afternoon by unveiling a new book on the village’s history.  The book is called “Pictorial History of Hannibal, NY” by town and village historian and former Mayor Lowell Newvine.

Comptroller Candidate Talks State Finances at Fulton Auto Repair Shop

Harry Wilson chats with Eddie Bellinger outside Bellinger's repair  shop on County Route 57 just north of Fulton.Lots of local politicians have gotten their cars repaired over the years at Eddie Bellinger’s auto repair shop just north of Fulton — and gotten an earful from the owner about some issue.  But Harry Wilson on Thursday became the first candidate for statewide office ever to tour Bellinger’s shop.
