Police swept across Upstate New York, arresting scores of people as part of a crackdown on unemployment insurance fraud.

It’s been a mainstay in Fulton for years, and Sen. Charles Schumer today (Jan. 11) told workers at the Birds Eye plant that he’d do everything he could to make sure it stays that way. The food processing plant’s future is uncertain after Birds Eye was sold to Pinnacle Foods, which is, in turn, owned by an investment company, Blackstone Group.
Business is about to boom at Oswego Industries, and it couldn’t be happening at a better time.
Oswego Industries had to cut down its payroll as work evaporated. Some people with disabilities stopped coming; others kept working but without pay. “There are a lot of people on our floor who haven’t had work in longer than we’d like,” Crowley said.

State Assemblyman Will Barclay (R-Pulaski) said today he is forming a committee to explore the idea of running for Congress this year.
Barclay has formed an exploratory committee, which allows him to raise money for a possible run.

Oswego County will have its first-ever minor league football team this summer when the Oswego County Outlaws begin play in the Northeastern Football Alliance.
“It will bring a different type of excitement” to the area, said Leroy Collins of Fulton, the former professional football player who is one of four men behind the Outlaws, with former local athletes Kendall “Kenny” Anderson, Dave Parker and Brad Rose.
