Economic Development Agency Presents Annual Activity Summary, Achievement Awards

Operation Oswego County held its 56th annual meeting at the SUNY Oswego Campus Center on Friday. Keynote presenter Tim Barry, senior vice president for OÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢Brien and Gere, an engineering and project delivery firm headquartered in Syracuse, spoke about the master plan for energy asset management and development at Riverview Business Park in the town of Volney.

CSEA Supports New Contract With Fulton

Members of the CSEA who are employed by the city of Fulton ratified a new four-year labor agreement Thursday evening. It is the first of the city’s three bargaining units to approve a new labor agreement. The previous contract expired at the end of 2007.Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â The city is expected to vote on the agreement next week.

School Board Revisits Budget

Board member-elect John Dunsmoor, left, makes a point during ThursdayÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s meeting. Traditionally, the board has allowed new members to participate in the last meeting of the year as non-voting members. At right is board member Jim Tschudy.

Board members ask administrators to show them what the budget would be like with a 4.7 as well as a 3.5 tax rate increase. They will meet again to next week to decide which, if either, best suits the needs of the entire district. The district must have a budget in place by the end of the month.

Lee/Oswego Talks Fail

Oswego Health has broken off talks with A. L. Lee Memorial Hospital. Those talks might have prevented the closing at the end of this month of Lee Memorial’s emergency room. Oswego Health announced in a news release that it left the talks because Lee Memorial’s plan to combine was too costly. Oswego Health’s full statement is here:
