At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council authorized a public hearing on the proposed amendments to the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program Administrative Plan. The hearing is scheduled for Monday, December 10, at 7:10 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

The Common Council voted unanimously Monday night to approve the city’s new “Social Host” law. It makes it unlawful for any person older than the age of 18 who owns, rents, or otherwise controls a private residence, to knowingly allow the consumption of alcohol, alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs by any minor (younger than the age of 21) on such premises or to fail to take reasonable corrective action upon learning of the consumption of alcohol, alcoholic beverages or use of illegal drugs by any minor on such premises.

Oswego City School District Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey is pleased to announce the sale of the district’s former Education Center to Pathfinder Bank. The building, purchased by the district in 1993, was placed back on the market by Dr. Goewey and the district in 2016 so the district could enter an era of restructuring and consolidation.

Harborfest 2019 is seeking local and regional performers for appearances at the 32nd edition of the festival. Harborfest’s goal for 2019 is to continue the long-standing tradition of offering quality entertainment that will attract people from all areas of the state and beyond.

On Thursday, October 18, at approximately 10:30 a.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force arrested Edward B. Merriam, 54, of 280 Maple St., on an arrest warrant issued out of Oswego County Court.

There are funds available through awarded Community Development Block Grant program activities, the Community Development Director said. The funds could be used to provide a comprehensive evaluation for the water treatment plant. If the money isn’t used, it would have to be returned to the state next spring.

Located on the western edge of Scriba, Champlain Commons will include 17 apartments with services and support through the State’s Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative, a five-year plan to develop 6,000 units of housing with services that help vulnerable people live independently in their communities.
