Oswego City School District Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey is pleased to announce the sale of the district’s former Education Center to Pathfinder Bank. The building, purchased by the district in 1993, was placed back on the market by Dr. Goewey and the district in 2016 so the district could enter an era of restructuring and consolidation.

Water Main Break Causing Low Water Pressure in Central Square

Onondaga County Water Authority customers in Central Square, Hastings and West Monroe may be experiencing low water pressure today (October 17) due to an issue with OCWA’s transmission main serving the area. National Grid was installing a new gas main to Phinney Drive from Route 49 just west of the village of Central Square. Due to National Grid’s excavation the transmission main was damaged causing the low water pressure.

Horse in Williamstown Dies of EEE

A horse which died Oct. 5 in the town of Williamstown has tested positive for Eastern equine encephalitis, the Oswego County Health Department learned Tuesday (October 16). It is the second horse to die of EEE this year in Oswego County. A horse died in the town of West Monroe in August.

DSS Attacker Pleads Guilty, Sentenced To Prison

On Monday (October 15) Steven Haynes of Oswego appeared in Oswego County Court and pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder in the Second Degree. Haynes was sentenced immediately after he entered his plea. The Hon. Walter W. Hafner Jr. sentenced Haynes to 20 years in state prison, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.
