UPDATE: Joshua J. Heady was located this morning (Nov. 15) by members of the Syracuse Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service in the city of Syracuse.
State Police, along with the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Village of Central Square Police Department with locating the 24-year-old who He escaped from police around 3 p.m. Nov. 14.
The arrest stems from the investigation into an incident that occurred sometime in the summer months of 2016 at a residence in the town of Parish. He allegedly held the victim down and engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim being less than 13 years of age.
On Sunday (November 13), at approximately 10:33 p.m., State Police in Fulton, along with members of the Village of Phoenix Police Department, responded to 25 Lock St. in the village of Phoenix for a reported man with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse where is listed in stable condition, state police said today (Nov. 14).
Brianne Hartmann, a kindergarten teacher at New Haven Elementary, brought a bit of Silicon Valley technology to the classroom. Beginning last month, her students are learning to code with an educational iPad experience called Osmo Coding. She is using Osmo Coding to blend the physical and digital worlds and teach her students logic skills and problem solving through computer coding.
At a special program the day before Veterans’ Day, Leighton Elementary welcomed several veterans to a patriotic program that involved the entire school. Several of the veterans received special honors from their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who are students at FLS.
As one of numerous recognition events across Exelon Corporation in honor of our nation’s veterans this Veterans’ Day, Exelon Generation is providing financial support to NYServes, upstate New York’s first coordinated network of organizations working together to serve veterans and their families.
State Police arrested Anthony Deroose, of Richland, for Cruelty to an Animal, a class “A” misdemeanor. Troopers were called to his residence after a neighbor called 911 to report Deroose was striking his dog while it was chained up to a tree in his backyard, police said today (Nov. 12).
Slightly more than three dozen veterans and others turned out Friday to pay tribute to Oswego’s veterans – past and present. This year marked the 98th anniversary of the first observance of Armistice Day. The best pay a veteran can receive, LTjg George Hoffman, the MC, pointed out, “is a thank you.”
Both have to do with money. The first will allow the public to weigh in regarding potential salary hikes, from 2017 through 2020, for three county officials. The other gives taxpayers a chance to sound off on the tentative 2017 county budget.
Several local businesses recently partnered with the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning and I Love New York to host a team of German businesses who are interested in bringing visitors to Oswego County. The fishing familiarization tour was organized by the New York State Division of Tourism to attract Germans who would like to fish while on vacation in the U.S.
