Fire Damages Scriba Business, Owner Found Dead

On January 1, at about 9:45 p.m., the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office and Scriba Volunteer Fire Department were called to a reported fire at May’s Polynesian Motel and Mini Mart located on State Route 104 in the town of Scriba. Once the fire was suppressed, an interior search located the body of the business owner, Steven May, 48, of the same address.

2015 In Review: November – Entergy to Close FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant

Entergy Corporation announced Nov. 2 that it will close the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant in Scriba, in late 2016 or early 2017. The company said its decision to close the plant is based on the continued deteriorating economics of the facility. Billy Barlow wins the mayor’s race. Also, the school district got a new superintendent. And, Oswego is home to its own 911 memorial.
