Immunizations can save your child’s life. Because of advances in medical science, your child can be protected against more diseases than ever before.

“Visitors can explore the clickable, interactive, color-coded map and learn more about Rice Creek trails and features to plan a visit, find their way along the trails or to document course projects and research,” said Diann Jackson, assistant director of the field station. Jackson said the new map could be customized to show one trail or one habitat at a time, as well as locations of benches, footbridges and other landmarks.

Jamie Enwright’s more than two decades of service to SUNY Oswego as a member of the college’s University Police staff has been recognized with a SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service. Enwright said she was “overwhelmed” by the honor when college President Deborah F. Stanley called to tell her of the award.

“New York in the World,” a documentary produced by SUNY Oswego-based WRVO Public Media, has won a 2014 regional Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association. The association has honored outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Murrow Awards since 1971.

At about 3:37 a.m. today (April 24), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, NOCA Ambulance, Altmar Fire Department and Williamstown Fire Department responded to State Route 13 in the town of Albion, near Austin Road, for a single-car motor vehicle crash. The driver reportedly died at the scene.

Dr. Adrienne McCormick will become dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at SUNY Oswego on July 11, college President Deborah F. Stanley announced. McCormick has served SUNY Fredonia as interim associate provost for curriculum, assessment and academic support since last fall.

The pact has a 1.75 percent salary adjustment for the 2012-13 school year. Then, there will be 2 percent hikes for each of the next three school years.

SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley announced on April 22 that the college will become smoke-free and tobacco free on Jan. 1, 2015. “In our efforts to support the educational mission of the college and to provide a safe, clean and healthy working, living and learning environment, the college will provide cessation assistance and resources to members of the campus community who wish to stop smoking or using tobacco in any form,” Stanley said in her Earth Day announcement.

The $79,900,000 budget goes to the public on May 20. It contains a 4 percent tax increase and around 17 staff reductions. The superintendent says he is confident that the Big Picture School program (Buc School) students will be able to successfully continue the program at the middle and high schools next year. And, it might be beneficial to the other students as well, he added.
