Marching Bucs Host Pageant of Champions This Saturday
Preparations are under way as the Bucs host the annual “Pageant of Champions” at Joe Wilber Field on Saturday. The “Pageant of Champions” usually attracts a standing-room only crowd and begins at 6 p.m. with Small School 3 Westmoreland followed by Large School 3 Auburn. The Small School 2 bands in competition include Jordan-Elbridge and Phoenix while the Large School 2 bands will be Central Square and Cicero-North Syracuse.
City Plans To Enter Into Updated Water Deal With Novelis, Scriba
At this week’s Administrative Service Committee meeting, Gay Williams, city attorney, requested council authorization for Mayor Gillen to enter into the proposed Water Supply Agreement between the Novelis Corporation, the town of Scriba and the city of Oswego. “The city and Novelis have been discussing this contract for many months,” she said. The committee sent the request to the full council.
Oswego County Announces New Test Results and Plans for Aerial Spraying
A pool in the town of West Monroe and another near the village of Central Square both tested positive for EEE. Two pools near the village of Central Square and another in the town of West Monroe each tested positive for WNV. Aerial spraying is scheduled for Thursday night if weather permits. The area to be sprayed is the Toad Harbor / Big Bay Swamp area near the north shore of Oneida Lake.
New, familiar programs to welcome fall at Rice Creek
SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station will launch fall programming in September with a new Sharing Science series, followed by naturalist-led walks, a hands-on sustainable art series, tours of the new headquarters building and winter bird study.
STAR Exemption Presentation Set Monday
On Monday September 23, at 7 p.m., prior to the Common Council meeting, representatives from the NY State Office of Real Property Tax Services will be giving an informational presentation on the new legislation regarding the STAR exemption for homeowners.

Oswego County Postpones Aerial Spraying Tonight
The Oswego County Health Department has postponed plans to spray the Toad Harbor / Big Bay Swamp area today (Sept. 17) due to cool evening temperatures in the forecast. The department is closely monitoring the situation and reminds residents to continue to be proactive in protecting themselves against mosquito bites.
Oswego Mobile Launched In The Port City
The city of Oswego is pleased to announce the launch of its new civic engagement and reporting tool, called Oswego Mobile. Oswego Mobile is a smart phone app that allows residents of Oswego to report issues directly to city staff and councilors. The app is available for iOS, Android, and Blackberry markets and is free to download.
