New Company Gives Old Plant New Life

Jeremy Dygert, one of the owners of Champlain Valley Specialty, points out some of the new equipment at their new plant in Oswego Town to Congressman Bill Owens on Tuesday.Champlain Valley Specialty of Keeseville recently announced that it will be renovating and expanding the former Empire Fresh Cuts facility in Oswego Town into an apple processing facility. It will employ around 80 people. Several former workers from Fresh Cuts and BirdsEye are hoping to get a new job at the plant.

Oswego County Legislature Adopts Law Regarding Protests At Military Funerals

The new law establishes a permit process regarding demonstrations at funeral event in accordance with state laws. The law prohibits demonstrations within 1,000 feet of the funeral or memorial event (measured from the main entrance), from one hour prior to one hour after the event is completed without first securing a permit.
