Police: Man Took Two Hostages, Killed Them Both in Pulaski

Steen, 39, of Hastings, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Updated with details of a prior arrest for an alleged case of domestic violence in which police say he choked a person until the person blacked out.

New update: Police confirm that the woman allegedly choked by James Steen in the March incident is Victoria Steen, one of the murder victims.

Vehicle Pursuit Races Through Port City

UPDATED: A suspect was chased through Oswego Thursday evening by Fulton police officers, county sheriff’s deputies and Oswego police officers. The suspect was apprehended after being Tasered at his residents about a half mile west of the Port City. Several law enforcement vehicles were damaged in the incident, but there were no serious injuries. The investigation is on-going.

County Urges State To Support Funding For Parks, Historic Sites

At its meeting Thursday night, the Oswego County Legislature voted unanimously to support full funding of the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The state’s share of the funds would go a long way toward funding historic sites like Fort Ontario and more, said Legislator Morris Sorbello as he offered the resolution for consideration.

Harborfest Vows To Keep City Informed As Plans Progress For 2011, 2012 Celebrations

Members of the Common Council and Harborfest’s board vowed to keep the lines of communication open as they plan for the 2011 and 2012 festivals.
