EEE Found in Horse in Oswego County

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today announced the State’s first confirmed equine case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis, also known as EEE, this year. The affected horse was a two-year old gelding kept in Oswego County. EEE is a rare viral disease of horses and humans that is spread by infected mosquitoes. To date, there have been no reported or confirmed human cases of EEE in 2010.

Women weren’t even allowed the right to vote in America. All that changed this week in 1920, with the passing of the Nineteenth Amendment, which gave all women the right to vote.

Oswego School Board Revisits Administrators Resolution

A move to reduce the number of administrators in the district by four came back to the table at Tuesday’s board of education meeting. Just as it did this spring, if failed to get the required support to pass. In other action, the board named a new law firm as the district’s attorney.

Hundreds Turn Out To Hear Harbor Tales

The annual Tales of the Harbor was held under clear skies Friday night. Some of the yarns were familiar and there were some new tales as well spun by Jonel Langenfeld-Rial of SUNY Oswego’s Theater Department. She stepped into the storyteller role taking over for another distinguished theater professor, the late Rosemary Nesbitt.
