Mimi’s Serves Up Spelling Bee Championship
Mimi’s Drive-In won the 10th annual Trinity Catholic School Corporate Spelling Bee. The friendly competition helps support Oswego County’s only Catholic school. Eleven three-member teams took part in the fund-raiser, which featured some of the hardest words in its history.
Parents will never forget April 20, 1999, as that was the day of the tragic shootings at Columbine High School. Oswego students and parents will have a unique opportunity on Oct. 19 as “Rachel’s Challenge†will come to Oswego. This program is based on the inspiring and courageous story of Rachel Scott, the first person killed at Columbine High School.
Sigma Tau Chi was cited Tuesday night by the mayor for their history of community service. The fraternity has conducted several community projects, including mentoring high school students for their SATs. They have a dinner planned for Saturday to raise funds and awareness.
The department has been stockpiling ice control sand and salt for many weeks. They are also preparing their winter equipment. This year, they will add two snowplows to their arsenal.
