An Oswego County Court Judge Tuesday reduced the bail for Lynn and Lindsey Maxwell. It was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond – half what was imposed upon them following their conviction in Palermo Town Court on Saturday night.
Plattsburgh lawyer Bill Owens will carry the Democratic Party’s endorsement in the race to replace John McHugh as the Congressman representing the North Country.
Democratic party officials from the 11 counties that make up the 23rd Congressional District met in Blue Mountain Lake Monday and settled on Owens after day-long discussions and at least two rounds of voting.
Gregory M. Pasiak, 19, of 21 Garden Drive, Oswego was charged with three misdemeanor counts of unlawfully dealing with a child. The Oswego County Sheriff’s Department alleges he gave alcohol to people under 21 years old at a party at his home on July 31.
Amyloidosis is a potentially fatal disease caused by the production and build up of abnormal proteins leading to organ failure. “Four years ago, I was a seemingly healthy, active working 59-year-old. Than my diagnosis was confirmed … enter the realm of rare diseases.”
As Lynn and Lindsey Maxwell walked out of Palermo Town Court Saturday night to the State Police vehicles that would take them to jail, a pack of reporters moved with them while townspeople who had attended court faithfully for the last two weeks formed a gauntlet of eyes.
“What’s your reaction?” asked one reporter. “How you feeling right now, Lynn?” asked another. The Maxwells had spoken often with reporters on breaks in the trial. Tonight, they said nothing.
They’re going back in to continue deliberating.
5:30 PM SATURDAY: The fate of Lynn and Lindsey Maxwell is in the care of a jury in the town of Palermo at this hour.
Lawyers for both sides summed up their cases Saturday afternoon. Town Justice Robert Wood instructed the six person jury on the law and sent them off to make their decision at about 5:15p.m. Saturday.
The Maxwells are accused of endangering the welfare of their 11 year old daughter, Erin, last August. Erin died in what police claim is a sexual assault and murder at the hands of stepbrother Alan Jones, The Maxwells are not charged with her death, but instead with providing living conditions that endangered her welfare. Each is charged with four misdemeanors, for which the maximum punishment is 1 year in jail.
