Residents in Oswego County are officially calling for Department of Social Service Commissioner Fran Lanigan’s job. Jackie Siver and Colleen Scott each approached the Oswego County Legislature Thursday to present petitions asking to have Lanigan removed from her position in response to the death of 11-year-old Erin Maxwell.

An attempt by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and the Oswego YMCA to set a new world record for the largest Uno card game came up short. Approximately 200 players took part.
Absentee Count Flips Results In 17th District
The absentee ballot count in the race for the 17th District seat on the Oswego County Legislature has overturned the victory for the seat. Incumbent Mary Flett won the seat by 11 votes, taking 662 votes to challenger Dan Hoefer’s 651.

Voters Reject BOCES Project
The Oswego County BOCES referendum was defeated Wednesday, almost two to one by voters in the BOCES district. According to the BOCES Web site, 2,810 voters said “no†to the project over 1,543 voters who supported the plan.
Absentee, Affidavit, Write-In Count Starts This Morning In Oswego
Oswego County Board of Elections Commissioner Donald Wart says the one race that is close enough to be overturned by paper will be the first race counted today as the board tallies the votes from affidavit and absentee ballots. Write-in votes will also be counted today.
Farnham Rocks The Arts At Fundraising Event
Farnham Family Services rocked the arts recently at its annual fundraising event at the American Foundry in Oswego. An estimated $15,000 was raised at the annual benefit that included five musicians/bands, food and a silent art auction.
