Nearly 200 Oswego students received help recently in getting school supplies they might not have otherwise been able to obtain. Initiated by the United Way’s Success By 6 program, the goal of the annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign is to collect school supplies for children in need throughout Oswego County.
The family run furniture business will close three of its four stores by the end of htis year. The North Syracuse store will then become a “superstore.”
Seven more people successfully complete the Oswego County Drug Treatment Court program. “They have turned the corner; they’re starting to rebuild their lives and putting their families back together. Those are the kinds of reward we are looking for,” one of the program’s facilitators observed.
The plan is to give teens something else to do Thursday evenings instead of hanging out at the farmers’ market where some of them have caused trouble in the past. However, one councilor said First Ward residents are concerned about increased noise in their neighborhoods.
“We don’t usually get any hail. It’s been few and far between that I have reported hail. And, here it is the second time this summer,” local weather observer Bill Gregway said following the storm that hit the area Sunday night.All Content Copyright Dot Publishing 2024.
