The Oswego City School District held a public hearing on Nov. 3 regarding the tentative PILOT agreement with Nine Mile Point. Joe Shields, of Ferrara and Fiorenza Law Firm, briefly explained the proposed pact to the board. Only a handful of people were in the audience. The proposal is for July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2020.
After an extensive search process following the retirement of former Superintendent Donna Fountain, the Hannibal Central School District Board of Education appointed Christopher Staats to the position during its meeting Wednesday (Nov. 4).

Deborah F. Stanley, president of SUNY Oswego, was elected chair-elect of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ board of directors during the association’s annual meeting on Oct. 27. Stanley just completed a three-year term as secretary-treasurer on the AASCU board, which included service on the board’s executive committee.
On Tuesday (November 3), at approximately 12:50 p.m. the Oswego City Police Department’s Patrol Division, assisted by the Oswego County Drug Task Force, executed a drug related search warrant at 28 W. Fourth St., Oswego. Two residents of that address, 20-year-old Jamison S. Limperis and 23-year-old Michael S. Wolf, were arrested and criminally charged.
The Board of Education of the Oswego City School District has received, and is accepting, the written resignation of Superintendent Benjamin Halsey, according to Board President Kathleen Allen. He is on leave of absence, with pay and benefits, through Friday, November 13.
The rally is part of a community effort to have Fort Ontario State Historic Site and the Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum elevated to National Monument status and into the National Park Service.
While the 2015 election seemed uneventful for Fulton voters, the results are in for the contested races in city council and legislature. Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. ran uncontested as did three incumbent council seats in the first ward, fourth ward and sixth ward. However, the second ward, third ward and fifth ward saw one incumbent and five all new candidates running for their council seat.

Our first thoughts today are with the employees, families and businesses that will be impacted, Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner and Oswego County Administrator Philip Church said in a joint statement to the media this afternoon. “This community appreciates the hard-working people who may be impacted, and we want you to know we support you,” they said. “We urge federal, state and Entergy officials to continue dialogue, and to not stop working to find a way to keep FitzPatrick operating.”
