Eagle Scout Builds Raft for Museum’s Fishing Pond

Thanks to West Monroe Eagle Scout Eric Hartmann, the fishing pond at the Salmon River Visitors Center and International Sport Fishing Museum has a new raft. The museum has developed a ½-acre fishing pond on the museum grounds on state Route 13, but needed a structure in the pond for the fish to hide under.

Fire Prevention Week Runs October 4 – 10

Oswego Common Council President Eric VanBuren presented a proclamation at this week’s council meeting recognizing Fire Prevention Week. He encouraged all city residents to install smoke alarms in their residences, on every level including the basement. This year’s fire prevention theme, from the National Fire Protection Association – “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep” – is an effort to ensure that people have working smoke alarms installed in their bedrooms.

September is a bittersweet month for many people involved in the Heidi Allen kidnapping case.

For the Allen family, each September brings another birthday for Heidi, the 1994 kidnapping victim that has been missing since her disappearance from her then job at a convenience store. September also brings similar bittersweet feelings for the family of the only man who has answered to charges on the kidnapping case, Gary Thibodeau.

NYS Department of Health Orders License Surrender of Fulton Doctor, Dilip Roy

Following a September 10 hearing between the NYSDOH Board of Professional Medical Conduct and Respondent, Dilip Kumar Roy, M.D., the Department of Health has ordered his license as a physician in the state of New York be surrendered effective October, 1 2015. The decision comes after an investigtion into Dr. Roy’s practice following a May 2015 arrest for one count of Rape in the 3rd degree, a felony.
