Recently, Mexico Wish Kid Alyssa David got the surprise of a lifetime as she celebrated her 14th birthday. Make-A-Wish Central New York presented her with a personalized Arctic Cat all-terrain vehicle. Alyssa has a life-threatening gastrointestinal disorder and her one true wish was for an ATV to spend more time outdoors with family and friends.

Photographer of Civil Rights Movement To Speak At SUNY Oswego

Matt Herron, whose photographs of the Civil Rights Movement in the mid-1960s have appeared in publications around the globe, will give a free artist’s talk at 7 p.m. March 24, in SUNY Oswego’s Marano Campus Center auditorium, as part of the college’s semester-long exploration of race and identity titled “Race. Place. Being.” As a young man, Herron volunteered to help document black Americans’ struggle for voting and other rights on behalf of the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee.

Oswego County Drug Task Force Announces Meth Lab Arrests

The Oswego County Drug Task Force with the assistance of the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team, New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team, Oswego County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team and the Oswego City Police Department’s Special Response Team executed a methamphetamine related search warrant at 1911/ 1913 Mexico St. in the town of Albion. Six people were arrested as a result.

Police: Elmira Man Sent Oswego County Minor Sexually Explicit Photos – Videos

On Thursday (March 5), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, Chemung County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI responded to 1002 Laurel St., Elmira, where Joshua Paul Vandegrift was located.

Vandegrift was later charged at the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office with two counts of second-degree disseminating indecent material to minors and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from the collaborative investigation beginning on Jan. 6, as the result of communications occurring over Facebook with the victim, who he knew to be a 12-year-old girl, police said.

Child Advocacy Center Hosts Training Seminars to Fight Child Abuse

When it comes to combating child abuse the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County is constantly finding ways to improve its services and bring an end to this epidemic. Recently the agency utilized funds from the Shineman Foundation and the Jim and Julie Boeheim Foundation to provide two extensive training seminars for professionals that are involved in the investigation of child abuse cases.
