Businesses Team up for Winter Coat Distribution In Fulton

It’s been a long, brutally cold winter but fortunately the efforts of two Fulton business owners are making it bit warmer. Joe Cortini of Cortini’s Shoe Store and Jeanne McManus of Ontario Cleaners have been collecting and distributing winter coats, hats and mittens to area youth and children in need of warm outerwear. An idea that started with the donation of few coats has grown in to a project that has collected more than 300 winter coats.

Trinity Catholic School hosts The Not Too Far from home Comedy Tour March 13 at the Lake Ontario Conference Center, 26 E. First St. Following rave reviews from previous years, this will be the third annual Adult Comedy Night for Trinity Catholic School. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with live music by Mike Shiel. Although it should only be used when a voice call is not an option, people in Oswego County can now text emergency calls to the Oswego County 9-1-1 center. County Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner (District 13, New Haven), said that the major cell phone carriers serving Oswego County recently installed and tested equipment to verify that the text-to-9-1-1 system works. “We have been working since the fall to have new equipment installed and make sure it’s operational for Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile customers,” Gardner said

Oaks Calls For Release Of Proposed School Aid Numbers

Assemblyman Robert C. Oaks is calling on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to release his projected 2015-16 school funding data, information that is vital as school districts across the state face a March 1 deadline to submit preliminary tax levy data to the state. In an unprecedented move, the governor withheld the data from his Executive Budget proposal until, or unless, the State Legislature enacts his new education policies.
