Fulton Couple Arrested In Heroin Investigation

Nichole D. Burr, 19, and Brandon E. Lane II, 23, both residing at 213 Utica St., Apartment #1, Fulton, were arrested on February 11 at about 3 p.m. following an on-going heroin investigation. During the course of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at 213 Utica St., Apartment #1 by members of the city of Fulton Police Department, Oswego County Drug Task Force and city of Oswego Police Department.

Bridge Repairs Set On Southbound NY 481 Over Oswego County Route 12

The NYS Department of Transportation is advising motorists in northern Onondaga and southern Oswego counties of upcoming bridge work that may affect their travel. Beginning on February 16, Oswego County Route 12 will be closed to through traffic as it passes under NY 481, just outside the village of Phoenix, in the town of Schroeppel. This closure is needed to repair the southbound Route 481 bridge, which was hit by a truck on January 5.

Tarandi Foundation Gives $50,000 To Endow Scholarships For Sheldon Institute

Every summer for two weeks, hundreds of youth in grades 2 through 10 come to the SUNY Oswego campus to explore topics ranging from music, art and dance to science, cooking and history during the Sheldon Institute. Now, these academic and cultural programs will be more accessible to lower-income families for many years to come, thanks to an endowed scholarship fund established by the Tarandi Foundation.

Oswego Council Approves New Local Law

At Monday night’s meeting, the Common Council approved Local Law No. 2 of the Year 2015 – a local law regarding the denial or revocation of permits. The new law, in part, states that no such permit (for use of city services/space) shall be granted to or renewed for an applicant who is violation of any city of Oswego code, ordinance or local law; or who owes property taxes, water or sewer fees, special assessments, fines for violation of city ordinances or any other fees to the city of Oswego.

Two Town Of Oswego Residents Are New State Troopers

Christopher Church and Cody Hogan, residents of the town of Oswego in the 130th Assembly District, are among the 226 new members of the State Police. Gov. Andrew Cuomo congratulated them at the 202nd session graduation ceremony from the Basic School of the New York State Police Academy in Albany. The new troopers will report for field duty on February 12. For the following 10 weeks, the new troopers will be evaluated under a field-training program supervised by senior Field Training Officers.

Investigation Continues Into Death Of Scriba 2-Year-Old

UPDATED INFORMATION: Edward G. Lewis was charged this evening (Feb. 12) with Manslaughter in the first degree, a class “B”felony. The Oswego County DA’s Office and investigators with the NYSP are continuing their investigation with the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s office. Additional charges are pending later this week.

Oswego School Board Committee Says Oui To French Club Trip

The committee was very receptive to a proposed French Club trip, but took no action Monday night. The proposed trip ties in with the standards. The students will make connections with what they have learned in the classroom especially in relation to the Iroquois Nation. Also Monday night, the superintendent said the redistricting proposal is in a “preliminary draft” phase. A formal presentation will be presented for board consideration at the next meeting.
