2014 In Review: In September – It Was A Smooth Opening for New School Year

A wish was granted for princess Sadie Wilson. She and her twin sister, Layla, were going to Disney World, thanks to local volunteers for the Make A Wish Foundation. Bill Crist, superintendent of Schools for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse, was named president of the United Way’s board of directors. The Oswego council sought to silence sirens on the river.

Oswego County Continues to Recycle Used Electronics

A new state law which prohibits consumers from placing unwanted computers, televisions and other electronic equipment in the trash will take effect Jan. 1. In Oswego County, residents can continue to bring unwanted electronic waste items to the Oswego County Solid Waste transfer stations and recycling drop-off centers.

2014 In Review: In May – State Budget Included Funding To Help Oswego County Fight EEE

Oswego City Police and University Police made two arrests in a case of three heroin overdoses, one victim died. The council tried to ban the Bridge Street Run and bill the college for the associated overtime costs. However, the mayor vetoed the resolution. Voters approved the city school district’s budget and elected two incumbents and a newcomer to the board of education.
