New Audible Pedestrian Signals Installed In Fulton

Eight new audible pedestrian signals have been installed in Fulton to increase pedestrian safety for people with visual impairments. The signals are at the intersection of Route 3/Route 48 and at the corner of Route 481 and Oneida Street. Audible pedestrian signals are specialized crossing devices that provide visual, tactile, and audio cues.

But thanks to a request from Jessica Pierce for Santa to use his Christmas magic, she was able to be home with the whole family and surprised her siblings at school.

In a touching letter to Santa, eight-year-old Jessica Pierce, asked Santa to use his Christmas magic to bring her sister, Baba (Alexandra Dinet) home from the Army for the holidays. Dinet, who is in training in the military, was not originally scheduled to be home, marking the first time in young Jessica’s life when the whole family was not together for Christmas.

New York Air National Guard Will Help NORAD Track Santa on Christmas Eve

“NORAD has supported Santa Claus’ Christmas Eve operations for more than 50 years and we are always delighted to help,” said Col. Michael J. Norton, EADS commander. “I can assure everyone that EADS will do everything in its power to assist Santa with his critical mission.” NORAD starts its Santa tracking operation at 5 a.m. on Dec. 24.

Fulton Police Stop Burglary in Progress

Fulton Police arrested two men on the city’s west side after they were found allegedly trying to steal copper plumbing from inside a vacant house. At about 12:13 a.m. on Sunday, police received a report of two males acting suspiciously around 514 Hannibal St., a vacant house. Police responded and found fresh tracks in the snow leading to the attached garage of the residence.

Oswego City School District’s superintendent shared information regarding three programs designed to assist at-risk students around the county. One would be similar to the district’s former Buc School program. Another would focus on incarcerated youth. The third would be a transitional behavioral school for elementary students throughout the county. The districts and CiTi would share the costs.

Second Live Love Life Blood Drive in Honor of Cooper Levine

The Live Love Life blood drive in honor of Cooper Levine will be held for the second time on December 30. This year’s event is slated for the Oswego Elks Lodge at 132 W. Fifth St., Oswego, from noon to 6 pm. More than 1.6 million people were diagnosed with cancer last year. Many of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment.
