Local Man Charged With Sexual Abuse

On Tuesday (December 16), the Oswego City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division began an investigation into an allegation of sexual abuse involving a child that had occurred within the city of Oswego. As a result of the investigation, Joshua D. Chase, 31, formerly of 169 E. Sixth St., Oswego, was arrested and criminally charged today (December 19).

Local Man Arrested For Phoenix Drugstore Robbery

A local man accused of robbing drugs at gunpoint from the corner drugstore in the village of Phoenix was caught by police Thursday (Dec. 18) and arraigned in Schroeppel Town Court on five felony and misdemeanor charges.

Cody M. Hall, who turned 22 years-old on Thursday, of county Route 10, Pennellville, was apprehended in the town of Cicero Thursday morning by several police agencies.

As Hannibal High School teacher Arlene Laut gears up for retirement at the end of the school year, a classroom project she spearheaded a decade ago is also drawing to an end. A massive penny collection effort, which was launched in an elective class Laut taught several years back, aimed to teach students the human cost of the Holocaust by having each penny represent a life.

New Year To Ring In Tobacco-Free, Smoke-Free SUNY Oswego

SUNY Oswego’s tobacco- and smoke-free policy takes effect Jan. 1, following a campaign of more than eight months to raise awareness of the costs of tobacco and nicotine use and addiction, to promote and assist smoking cessation, and to communicate with the college’s publics. The new year will bring a fresh start for all at the college — visitors along with faculty, staff and students. The policy implemented that day prohibits smoking and all tobacco and e-cigarette use on college property, outdoors as well inside, including in any vehicles on campus.

Governor Signs Ritchie Bill To Boost EEE Prevention

State Senator Patty Ritchie today (Dec. 18) announced that the Governor has signed into law her bill to help speed the discovery of potentially life-saving vaccines for deadly diseases including Eastern Equine Encephalitis, the mosquito-borne virus that’s claimed five lives in Oswego County and Central New York. The measure (S.2115), which passed both houses of the Legislature with overwhelming bipartisan support, creates a new “21st Century Workgroup for Disease Elimination and Reduction” within the state Department of Health.

Oswego County to Participate in Statewide STOP-DWI Holiday Season Crackdown Enforcement Effort
