The youngest of three teenagers accused of killing a Granby man pleaded guilty on Monday (Aug. 11) to one count of felony murder. Court officials said the judge promised Carr Jr. a sentence of no worse than 17-and-a-half years to life in prison.
The Oswego city Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 149 E. Eighth St. this evening (Aug. 11). The fire was reported at 5:33 p.m. The first OFD units arrived within three minutes. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Fulton Savings Bank recently pledged a $50,000 commitment to the Oswego County Community Foundation. This gift, which will be fulfilled over five years, will help the foundation reach its endowment fundraising goal of $500,000.
U.S. senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand on Friday, Aug. 8, announced a $750,000 grant and a $308,000 loan for the town of Sandy Creek from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This federal funding will be used to update and expand the town’s critical water district #2 in order to replace water mains. This update will ensure the new water mains are compliant with regulations and meet supply and distribution standards.

On Friday (Aug. 8) afternoon Joe Fiumara, director of the Fulton Community Revitalization Corp (FCRC) opened the sealed bid packages to select the company to begin dredging the accumulated sludge from the lake bottom. “Groh Dredging is $118,965.20,” Fiumara read from the bid pack. “That’s in the budget,” Mayor Ron Woodward said.

The Oswego County Health Department announced today (Aug. 8) that the David C. Webb Memorial Park Bathing Beach on Oneida Lake in the town of Constantia has been re-opened to swimming.
