Soccer Program Set for Children with Disabilities

What started out last year as a Girl Scout Silver Project by then seventh grader Claudia Chetney, has now taken off under the direction of Chetney, many other young soccer players and coaches affiliated with Oswego Youth Soccer Association.

First Fundraising Event for the VOW Foundation Set For May 17

VOW  flyer may 2014The newly created non-profit charitable organization, the Victor Orlando Woolson Foundation, Inc. (VOW Foundation), will hold its very first fundraiser. “We are starting out small and simple with a chicken barbeque at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego,” said president Teresa Woolson. This first fundraiser will be a chicken dinner take-out event held at Lighthouse Lanes from noon – 5 p.m.

Oswego Business Expands To Larger Location

La Parrilla is on the move. The restaurant opened in February of 2010 at 118 W. Second St., Oswego, and has been offering patrons with the area’s finest Mediterranean cuisine. In early June, La Parrilla will open in a larger building just about a block north of its current location. “The new place, at 156 W. Second St., near the movie theater, will provide us with more space for our csttomers, greater ambiance and an enhanced wine list,” said owner and chef Ray Jock.

Oswego Council Shoots Down Rental Fee Hike

At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council voted 3-4 to increase the rental inspection fees. During discussion at last week’s committee meeting it was noted that the city isn’t covering what it costs to perform the inspections. It was suggested to increase the fee to $75 per unit, per three years. The resolution failed, 3-4.
