Pedestrian Crossing Roadway in Geddes Struck by Vehicle

Deputies investigating the accident report that the pedestrian, Maja Files (16) of Sunrise Drive, Hannibal, was attempting to cross West Genesee Street with a friend in a south bound direction, against the green traffic light, when she walked into the path of an east bound Toyota Scion vehicle being operated by a Rickey Hawkins (54) of Manchester Road, Geddes.

Students are Encouraged to Compete with Their Knowledge on War of 1812

Students will present research papers on War of 1812 topics on Friday evening during the April 4-6, 2014 Oswego War of 1812 Symposium at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, 26 E. First St., Oswego.   Graduate student Jon Zella, dressed as a 3rd Artilleryman at Fort Ontario in 1814, and any SUNY Oswego student who registers at least one week in advance of the symposium with Dr. Richard Weyhing of the History Department, will have their registration fee waived.The fourth annual Oswego War of 1812 Symposium will be held from Friday, April 4 to Sunday, April 6. The symposium will be held at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, 26 E. First St., Oswego. This will be the first symposium where SUNY Oswego students are encouraged to participate in the War of 1812 research paper competition. Students interested in competing must follow the requirements for the contest.

Accused Teenaged Trio Moved to County Court

The cases for the three teenaged boys who were arrested in connection with the murder of a town of Granby man were waived from town court to Oswego County Court where, if the case goes to trial, they would be treated as adults. According to New York State Criminal Procedure Law, a youth 16-18 years old charged with a Class A-I or A-II felony may not be treated as a youthful offender.
