Free Clothing Give-Away Set Dec. 14

A grassroots group has sprung up in the Port City to ensure those who need warm clothing this winter can have some. “I’m not sure how it all started, except that Bernadet Pryor is the mind behind it.  She goes out of her way to help as many people as she can,” said Terry Moody. The group will be having another free clothing giveaway this Saturday at the Grace Lutheran Church.

Port City’s Parking Restrictions Start Dec. 11

The “Alternate-Side Parking Restriction” will be in effect, commencing Wednesday at 1 a.m. During such time as the parking restriction is imposed, the parking of any vehicle on any city street or highway from 1 to 6 a.m. on an even numbered side of the street on an odd calendar day, or an odd numbered side of the street on an even calendar day, shall be prohibited.

Residents Speak Out Against Proposed Oswego Tax Hike

At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council got a small sample of what’s likely in store for them next week. Four city residents voiced their opposition to the mayor’s proposed 2014 city budget. There will be a public meeting on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Oswego Middle School (in the gym) to discuss the proposed budget, Mayor Gillen said. The public hearing on the budget will be Dec. 23.
