Starting with the December 2013 graduating class, students who enrolled at SUNY Oswego as freshmen in the fall 2010, or subsequent fall, semester and graduate no later than May of their fourth consecutive year, and meet all other requirements of the Oswego Guarantee, will receive the $300 Oswego Graduation Return on Investment.
Fulton is one of the first of two cities to apply for aid from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Financial Restructuring Board for Local Governments. On Tuesday, Fulton’s application for a comprehensive review of its finances was accepted. To participate in the program, Fulton must abide by some of the suggestions the FRB comes up with. The city could get assistance in the form of a grant up to $5 million.
The MQ-9 aircraft, flown from Wheeler Sack Army Airfield at Fort Drum, crashed approximately 20 miles northeast of the port of Oswego into Lake Ontario during a routine training mission on November 12. U.S. Navy experts, assigned to an area search platoon from the Fleet Forces Command based in Virginia, arrived at the Oswego Coast Guard Station on Wednesday.
Debra Mullenax, director of the Oswego County Real Property Tax Service, reminds property owners that they have until Dec. 31 to apply for the School Tax Relief (STAR) property tax exemption. “Homeowners can apply for free and those who need assistance may call or stop in our office for help,” said Mullenax.

Oswego Heath recognized four Oswego County champions of healthcare at a recent reception. Honored were three retiring physicians, Obstetrician/Gynecologist Dr. Joseph Mather, Radiologist Dr. Sudhir Guthikonda, Obstetrician/Gynecologist Dr. Ronald Uva and a long-time board member, the Rev. James Tschudy.
November is National Runaway Prevention Month. Washington Square Park (East Park) is being used by Oswego County Opportunities this month in order to raise awareness about runaways and the homeless. A group of volunteers braved the elements recently to drive home the seriousness of the situation in Oswego County.
