UPDATE:  The Boil Water Advisory has been lifted as of 2 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 10.

From September 6 to 7, the Oswego City Police Department deployed additional personnel to address quality of life concerns in residential neighborhoods. This detail consisted of marked, unmarked and foot patrols.

For the second time in as many years, the Oswego Dragon Festival filled Breitbeck Park. The long dragon boats raced along Lake Ontario’s waters while fundraising for the Oswego YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign.

The skies over historic Fort Ontario were filled with rain – and kites on Saturday. Dozens of people, young and old, braved the elements to take part in the annual kite fest event. Fort Ontario is the only state park that has kite flying in its mission. In other places, park police could show up and they have the discretion to tell people they can’t fly a kite in the park.

More than 180 aquatic invasive species (AIS) in the Great Lakes are disrupting food webs, degrading aquatic habitats, and displacing native species. Do you know what to do if you find an AIS at the end of your fishing line?

The Oswego City School District Board of Education will return to the school year schedule of committee and regular meetings on September 10. The board will meet at the OHS Anthony J. Murabito Media Center. At 6 p.m. Michael McLaughlin will take his oath of office to officially become a board member.

Aerial spraying is being conducted as a preventative measure to reduce the chances of a person contracting the Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) virus, which is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. Due to the size of the area, spraying cannot be completed in one evening. Aerial spraying will start after 6 p.m.
