The city will use more than $206,000 to establish an accounting reserve to pay for certain special projects. The money was in an account used to pay for the 2002 East Albany Street Bridge project.
The city of Oswego Department of Public Works Water Maintenance personnel will be performing preventative maintenance flushing of the water distribution system on the eastside of the city starting on August 19. The affected area will be north of State Route 104E to the lakeshore and from East First Street to the eastern city limits, starting at East First and Bridge streets.

At its meeting Tuesday night, the board of education decided to appoint someone to fill the seat vacated by Jim Tschudy’s resignation last month. The term would be just for the remainder of the term. Those interested need apply by Aug. 27.
At about 8:55 Sunday night, a 1998 Audi was traveling southwest on Bonstead Road near the Route 481 overpass in the town of Clay when it crashed, killing the passenger. The suspected driver, who fled the scene, turned himself in this evening.
Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus and West Nile virus (WNV) were found in mosquito pools collected in Oswego County Aug. 7, the Oswego County Health Department announced this afternoon (Aug. 13). The tests were performed in the State Department of Health’s Wadsworth Center Laboratories near Albany.
The Oswego Bike Fest aims to bring two wheel enthusiasts from across New York State and New England to the ‘Home of the Supermodifieds’, in what will be a four-day long gathering of bikers, vendors, rock n’ roll, and good times.
