UPDATE 8 PM: the investigation determined that a 20-year-old man, identified as Jerimiah B. Johnston, of Oswego, was riding a skateboard in an easterly direction on West Bridge Street, when he entered the roadway and struck a 2005 Buick minivan travelling south on West Second Street, driven by 38-year-old Tracey J. Faul and occupied by five children.
At about 4:40 p.m. today (April 3), emergency crews responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident near the intersection of West Second and Bridge streets.
At about 2 p.m. today (April 3), Oswego Police were dispatched to the Rise and Shine Convenience store 126 East Oneida Street in the city of Oswego for a reported robbery. Preliminary investigating determined that a white male, described to be in his teens, allegedly stole a purse from a customer at the store and allegedly stated that he possessed a gun.
The governor also spoke about his plans to assist families, revitalize the economy and enhance education. The budget will provide nearly $800 million in tax relief for businesses over the next three years, he added. As well as reforms in the unemployment insurance and workers’ compensation system, which will save the private sector $1.2 billion, he said.
Bucking the recent tradition of one Friday night headliner on the NRG Oswego Harbor Power “Lakeview Stage” in Breitbeck Park, there will be two nationally known groups rocking crowd on the first full day of the 26th Harborfest on Friday July 26.
Remember spring? It should start to make a comeback on Thursday
Spring has arrived and that means it’s time for spring cleaning. Besides cleaning up your house and yard – it is also time to once again spruce up the environment. “April 22 is Earth Day,” said Richard Drosse, Earth Week coordinator for the county’s Environmental Management Council. “In recognition, the council invites individuals, schools and groups to participate in Oswego County’s Earth Week, April 19 – 28.”
The 26th edition of Oswego’s Harborfest, New York State’s Premier Admission-Free Festival, gets under way on Thursday night July 25. The traditional opening ceremonies will again take place on the NRG Oswego Harbor Power “Lakeview Stage” in Breitbeck Park.

Oswego is going to the movies, thanks to Oswego County Federal Credit Union. At its meeting Monday night the Physical Services Committee approved a request by William Carhart, CEO of the credit union, to use East Park to host a series of “Movies in the Park” during the summer months.
